The guitar has a neck (2) with a fret board (8), merging into an extension body (4). There is at least one removable side portion (30, 32) releasably secured to the neck and/or the extrusion body. A side portion is fitted with a flexible outer shell (36) of foamed plastic material. Preferably the side portion has a hollow profile, and is tabular, whose outer diameter corresponds to the height (H) of the extension body. The side portion may be connectable to the extension body via an engagement fitting, with an engagement bolt fitting into a retention part.
