<p>A disk drive (7) in which a servo phase locked loop (21b) is synchronized with the playback signal from embedded servo fields (7s) spaced around the circumference of the disk. This PLL is already correctly aligned with the playback signal at the start of each embedded servo field (7s), rather than being re-synchronized at the start of each embedded servo field as has been done in the prior art. The availability of the phase aligned clock produced by this PLL allows for a reduction in the size of the embedded fields (7s). <IMAGE></p> |
