PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery system in which heat generated by quick charge, and large current discharge, etc., is speedily radiated to the external of the battery to suppress battery temperature rise, in which charge/discharge rate and service life can be improved, in which external short-circuiting is prevented, and in which handling easiness of it is improved to be securely assembled and fixed to a device. SOLUTION: A space part for ventilation is provided between alkaline storage battery cells 1, the cells are connected to each other by a connection plate to be bound as an assembly storage battery 12, and on an upper surface of it, an insulation cover 16 having a ventilation hole 15 to be parallel to the space part in a top plate 18 is put directly above a position where the connection plate and the space part under it overlap with each other to cover the whole surface of each connection plate, while a ventilation means is provided above the top plate 18 of a completed assembly storage battery 12A fixed and integrated with the cells 1 by cover lock claws, etc., and under the space part in a bottom surface of the assembly storage battery 12 for ventilation of air around the connection plate in the insulation cover 16 and above a wall surface of a cell case in contact with the space part to improve heat radiation effect of the assembly storage battery 12.
