PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the photographic element high in resistance fluctuation of grain sizes in an emulsion low in sensitivity and maintaining preferable contrast against it. SOLUTION: This element is a multilayer and multicolor silver halide photographic element having a first layer and a second layer and the second layer provides a space for dissolution physical development, and at least one of the dye-forming units has >=2 silver halide emulsion layers each spectrally sensitized in the same visible wavelength region but different in sensitivity, and the first layer is adjacent to a layer containing an emulsion lowest in sensitivity in the units and arranged between this lowest sensitive emulsion layer and the second layer. The emulsion in the lowest sensitive emulsion layer in the units contains flat silver halide grains having an average ECD of >0.45μm and when this emulsion is a single emulsion, these flat grains occupy at least 50% of the projection areas of the total silver halide grains, and when this layer contains mixed emulsion, the flat grains occupy at least 25% of the projection areas of the total grains.
