<p>Several 24v battery sections (2) are series-connected, providing substantial output voltage, e.g. for traction motors. Each section has a regulator (4), powered by the section itself, which digitises signals representative of the battery state - e.g. temperature and terminal voltage - for passing to a central controller (5) having its own e.g. 5v power supply (10). The regulators receive in return, and decode, the controller's digital commands. Two digital channels, one (9) for time and one (9') for data signalling, pass between regulators and from one regulator to controller. At each interconnection a 10nP decoupling capacitor (8,8') makes possible intercommunication at the differing voltage levels. For multiplexing over the common channels, coded addresses are used, with coding and decoding circuits in each regulator.</p> |
