The invention concerns a tap-off box for a power-distribution system, the tap-off box comprising a base element which can be mounted on a busbar channel of the power-distribution system and closed by a cover pivotably mounted on the base element. The tap-off box further comprises a contact-separating device. The object of the invention is to provide a power-distribution system tap-off box which is economic to manufacture and in which the busbar terminals are removed from the busbars when the cover is opened. This object is achieved in that the contact-separating device comprises a tap unit (16), which is secured on the base element, and a locking unit (18) secured on the cover. The tap unit (16) comprises a displaceably mounted separating slide (34) with busbar terminals (38) and cable holders, the busbar terminals (38) engaging about corresponding busbars (40) when the cover (8) is closed and being at a spacing from the busbars (40) when the cover (8) is opened.
