Oriented mono- or multi-layer foil with a total thickness of not more than 4 microns, a roughness Ra of less than 30 nm on at least one side, a surface gas flow time t of less than 2900 secs. on at least one side and a winding stability of at least 8000. Also claimed is a foil raw material containing (A) thermoplastic polymer(s) and (B) a mixture of particles (I) with an average particle dia. (d50) of less than 0.5 micron and particles (II) with a d50 of 3.0-4.0 microns.
