2-cyano-1,3-dione derivatives represented by general formula (I), a process for producing the same, and herbicides containing the same as the active ingredient, wherein R<1> represents C1-6 alkyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl or -(CH2)q-OR<6> (wherein q is 1 or 2 and R<6> is C1-4 alkyl); R<2> to R<5> independently represent each hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl; X represents C1-4 alkyl; m and n independently represent each 0, 1 or 2; and Z represents (a) or (b) wherein R<7> and R<8> independently represent each hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl or C1-4 alkoxy, or the carbon atoms in R<7> and R<8> may be bonded to each other to thereby form a 3- to 7-membered ring; and R<9> represents oxygen, sulfur or C1-4 alkoxyimino. |
