Packaging device for furniture items, e.g. suspended kitchen cupboards

The device is used to package items of furniture, especially kitchen cupboards, using corrugated cardboard which is stored on reels. The ends of the cardboard which project over adjacent vertical edges of the item, are transferred across the top by first transfer elements with actuators, which are mounted on folding elements on the free ends of two pairs of arms (21a,21b). The arms also have second transfer elements with actuators, for the transfer across the top of cardboard ends which project over adjacent upper horizontal edges of the item. A third transfer element with an actuator, is fitted on the opposite side of the item from the first transfer elements, for the transfer across the top of cardboard ends which project over adjacent upper horizontal edges of the item. The transfer elements operate in conjunction with one another, in order to create a fold in the corner region.
