Method of cleaning steps of escalator

The method involves bringing a cleaning device (1) into position on the stationary escalator. It is lowered onto the steps via a built-in lifting arrangement including a motor (9), chain (15) and lifting rod (10), and then cleaning fluid applied. A brush belt (7) is then set in motion and slid over the end faces and tread surfaces of the steps to release the dirt. The ensuing dirty water is caught in a trough (17) and then pumped from there into a container.
