Manufacturing refractory lining blocks for the steel industry

Manufacturing method for corrosion and abrasion resistant refractory blocks for lining vessels used in the iron and steel industry, especially in the charge impact areas of converters, whereby the basic mix consisting of at least one base material, especially a metal oxide, an elastifier and, where required, a binding agent is provided with a reinforcement, formed and pressed. At least one reinforcing element is incorporated in at least the block end face area forming the internal wall of the vessel to improve load bearing strength, especially shock load strength. A lining block made by the above method is also claimed.
