Method for eliminating pollutants of low molecular weight contained in a part of which the basic material is selected in the group comprised of plastic materials and elastomer materials, said method including a step for extracting the pollutants by immersion of the part in CO2 in the supercritical status, characterized in that the extraction step by means of supercritical CO2 is followed by a slow isothermal decompression step in the CO2, down to atmospheric pressure, in a time duration comprised between 30 minutes and 16 hours, at a temperature higher than 31 DEG C.
