Vertically operating machining centre

The vertical machining centre has a horizontal rotating flat table (3) mounted on it. A machine stand (5) is located adjacent to the table which has an extension arm (6) attached to it. The machine head (9) is attached to the extension arm. A horizontal linear sliding drive (14) is provided which can move the table and/or the machine head relative to each other which allows for machining in the 'X' axis. The flat table may be arranged on a machine bed with slidable means of sliding drive standing horizontal. The machine bed may be arranged such that sliding motion is radial, as occurs in the flat table parallel to the direction of the extension arm.
