PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a beam width of a volume array of an element antenna without asymmetrical deformation of beam or large increase in secondary lobe by applying the phase excitation rule raking a specific value to each radiation element of the volume antenna. SOLUTION: The phase exciting rule taking a value of (2π/λ)ρn +2kπfor each radiation element expressed in a suffix (n) is applied to radiation elements of a volume antenna, whereλis a wavelength of a radiation wave sent or received andρn denotes a distance from a radiation element expressed in a suffix (n) till a point at the outside of the volume antenna at a reflection side in an aiming direction on an axis in the aiming direction. That is, in an array of radiation elements B1 -BN distributed in a volume such as a sphere 10 with a center O, in order to extend the beam around the aiming direction, the focusing rule is replaced with the phase rule which is designed that a spherical wave with a center I at the outside of the array located to the reflection side in the standard direction is provided to a wave sent in the aiming direction OZ.
