PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiographic element for forming medical diagnostic image suitable for detecting anatomy characteristics of X-ray absorbing density remarkably different with one exposure. SOLUTION: This element contains a transparent support and first and second layer units of silver halide emulsion applied to both the surfaces of the support. The element contains the first and second silver halide emulsion layer units giving in total at least 1.0 point gamma (γ) in the case of image density one (1) and a least 2.0 gamma (γ) in the case of image density 2.5. Both the units contain as the first component a silver halide emulsion part of multi-dispersion planar particles having the particle dia. variation coefficient which is 30% or more while as the second component the combination of planar particle emulsion including silver halide emulsion of single-dispersion planar particle dominating 20-50% of planar particle emulsion combination in the total silver, having the smaller average particle dia. than the average particle dia. of the emulsion combination, and showing the particle dia. variation coefficient which is 10% or less.
