PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor capable of giving an high quality image by manufacturing a carrier using fiber reinforced epoxy resin, and polishing and finishing the external surface thereof with a tape. SOLUTION: This carrier is made of a cylinder formed out of glass fiber reinforced plastic(FRP) using glass fiber impregnated with epoxy resin containing carbon of high purity and having an electric resistance factor equal to or below 10<4>Ω.cm, with the external surface polished, Preferably, the cylinder is made by use of the filament winding method, and the outer diameter thereof is polished to the prescribed size. Then, the external surface is polished to the prescribed surface roughness by use of a polishing tape having abrasive grains evenly distributed and fixed to the surface of a substrate having flexibility like a tape. The external surface of the cylindrical carrier so made is preferably formed to have machined surface without synchronization (machining pitch) equal to or below 0.5mm in a cylinder axial direction. The content of the glass fiber is preferably 50wt.% or more, and 20wt.% to 30wt.% is required for the epoxy resin.
