An animal trap includes a housing with a trap door through which an animal to be trapped is thrown. A throwing mechanism is responsive to the presence of an animal thereon and throws the animal into the housing through the trap door when actuated. Actuation of the throwing mechanism opens a valve allowing a gas to flow into the housing to euthanize the animal thrown into the housing. As gas flows into the housing it drives a fluid motor which in turn drives a reset mechanism. The reset mechanism returns the throwing mechanism to its original set state and closes the valve to inhibit further gas flow into the housing making the trap ready to catch and euthanise another animal.
