The streamlined housing (1) round a propeller (2) is divided into two sections which have a common inner wall (4) made from sheet metal (7). The section to the rear of the housing's intake edge (5) is thickened by the addition of an outer layer of metal sheet (8), while the section adjacent to the outlet edge has only the basic metal sheet (7). The metal sheet (7) at the thinner end of the housing is strengthened by outer radial ribs (12) which overlap inner radial ribs (11) at the thicker end.
