A ball processing method and apparatus for manufacturing a desired ball conveniently and efficiently by being installed on the conventional lathe is disclosed. In the ball processing method, a ball is rotated at high speed in a cutting direction and concurrently rotated at low speed in a direction perpendicular thereto so that a three-dimensional ball processing is performed. The brackets(2, 2a) are installed on the upper surface of the rotation plate(1) connected to the main shaft(11) of the lathe(1). The ball supporters(4, 4a) for holding a ball to be processed is installed thereon. The rotation gear(5) is attached outside the ball supporter(4) which is engaged with the transfer gear(7) of the driving gear shaft(7a) installed on the rotation plate via the speed reduction gear(6) to forcibly rotate the driving gear(8). The cutting device(12a) advances and retreats with respect to one point on the surface of the ball. Thus, a convenient and economic ball processing is possible.
