1,091,175. Unloading silos. DEERE & CO. March 8, 1965 [March 11, 1964], No. 9711/65. Heading B8E. Apparatus for unloading silage from a silo having a circular upright wall 51 comprises an auger in a sweep structure 50 which levels the silage and feeds it to a central structure 12 from which it is discharged by an auger conveyer 27. The central structure 12 is prevented from rotating by the conveyer 27 and an arm 137 extending through an opening 136 while the sweep structure 50 with its radial beam 108 and support arm 121 are rotated by a motor 16 through a chain drive 38. The sweep 50 is guided by wheels 90, 91 held in contact with the wall 51 by the reaction of a spring-loaded wheel 111 while a wheel 120 on the arm 121 keeps the structure 12 centrally positioned. Wheels 125, 128, 131 keep the parts clear of the surface of the silage while a third wheel 100 is vertically offset on the sweep 50 and acts as a silage levelling device since if the sweep 50 drops into a dip in the silage the wheel 100 contacts the wall 51 and by being offset causes the sweep to rise thereon and to cease feeding from the low area. The end of the auger 52, Fig. 5, of the sweep 50 is provided with rotating blades 82 and brushes 84, and fixed scraper plates 85 to free material adhering to the wall 51. Material is conveyed from the auger 52 to the conveyer 27 by flippers 76 and impeller blades 42, Fig. 3 (not shown).
|
