PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect long tape to the required length so that the mechanical strength and surface resistance of a connection attain appropriate values without formation of a step at the connection by laying the ends of two long tapes one on top of the other, forming the connection through the heating and pressure connection of this stack, and forming a conductive layer over the upper surface of the connection. SOLUTION: To connect a conductive long tape 1 for a carrier tape made from a thermoplastic resin, which has a conductive layer 4 on one or both sides, the following means are used: the ends 6, 6' of two long tapes are laid one on top of the other, and this stack is thermally connected under pressure (e.g. the end face of the ultrasonic welding hone 9 of an ultrasonic welder 8 is put on the stack to press it while melting it by ultrasonic heating), and a connection 2 is formed into the thickness of one tape. Then a conductive layer 5 is formed over the upper surface of the connection 2. |
