PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for driving a light emitting element which can change luminance by the use of a simple constitution even when a low-speed light emitting element is used. SOLUTION: The device is provided with n power sources 1 which output different voltage values, n switching means 2 which make each of the respective outputs of n power sources on or off, a summation means 3 which sums the outputs of the switching means 2 to drive a light emitting element 7, a period dividing means which divides the lighting period to k sub-periods, a control information storing means 5 which stores the control information of n switches for each of k divided segments, and a switching control means 6 which makes the on-off control of the corresponding n switches. |
