PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain RLL encoding to obtain the information data of high encoding efficiency by permutating the value of the lowest order bit when the limitation is not satisfied for the least or largest run length at the coupling part between two continuous RLL code data. SOLUTION: The m-bit information data are converted into the n-bit RLL code data where the least and largest run length of 0 are limited to (d) and (k) respectively and the value of the lowest, bit is equal to 0. When the run length of 0 is smaller than (d) at the coupling part between two continuous RLL code data, the value of the lowest bit of the RLL code data of the preceding stage included in those RLL code data is permutated with 1. At the same time, all bits of the RLL code data of the next stage are shifted to the higher order side. When the run length of 0 is larger than (k) at the coupling part of two RLL code data, the value of the lowest order bit of the RLL code data of the preceding stage is permutated with 1. |
