PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge for an ink jet printer for controlling the air flow and reduce the evaporation of ink. SOLUTION: A communication section 38 for opening an ink storage section 32 into atmosphere is divided into an air chamber 42 communicated with the ink storage section 32 and an air flow control chamber 43 communicated with an air communication opening 37 by a partition 41. A columnar air flow control component 44 for controlling the air flow is provided in the air flow control chamber 43. The air flow control component 44 is provided with a central layer 44a composed of fibers such as wool fibers or chemical fibers oriented regularly in the longitudinal direction and a surface laminate layer 44b formed on the periphery of the central layer section 44a and shutting off the air flow. |
