In a gas treatment apparatus attached to waste incinerating equipment, it is possible to efficiently trap acidic gases, such as a hydrogen chloride gas and SOx contained in a waste gas occurring during the incineration of waste, by blowing into such a waste gas a higly reactive acidic gas neutralizer, such as water glass, or slaked lime and pulverized calcium silicate hydrate having a specific surface area of not less than 20 m2/g, preferably not less than 30 m2/g, and stabilize the noxious metals in the dust by blowing a noxious metal stabilizing agent into the waste gas, or adding a noxious metal stabilizing agent to the dust removed from the waste gas and kneading the resultant mixture. This treatment method is effective in treating a waste gas from an industrial waste and city waste incinerator, and stabilizing the noxious heavy metals contained in the dust, such as EP ash and weathered ash produced from the waste gas. The dust removed from the waste gas treated by blowing the above acidic gas neutralizer thereinto is thereafter treated easily.
