An animated display (10) in the form of a postcard or other thin member having a front panel (11) which carries a picture (12), portion (14) of which is absent. A cavity (18) formed rearwardly of the panel (11) is viewable through the portion (14) and carries a liquid and/or granular material which when flowing past the portion provides the appearance of animation in the display.
