A sensor includes an electrical circuit on a carrier, with connector and sensor element. Its casing has an internal cavity accepting the carrier, with openings for cable connection and the sensor element itself. Sensor (30) and first section (16a) of the carrier (16) with its electrical circuit are embedded in a moulded thermoset mass (40). A second section (16b) of the carrier (16) with the electrical circuit and the electrical connector (50) are encapsulated by a thermoplastic mass (60). Adjacent to the opening (18) for the sensor element, in an interspace (42) between the thermoset (40) and casing (12) a seal (44) is located. Also claimed is a process to make the sensor.
