The air bag comprises stitches with neighbouring rows of stitches (28,30,32) in the direction of the sewing line. The rows of stitches are arranged offset in relation to each other by an amount which is smaller than the length of the stitches. The offset distance amounts to between one third and a half of the length of the stitches. The multiple row of stitches (34) can be a double row and the offset is about half the length of the stitches.
