PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing inspection device with improved ease of operation which can attain high-speed printing inspection at a low cost by processing the image data of printing to be inspected with high efficiency, and can facilitate maintenance such as data storage work. SOLUTION: This printing inspection device processes the image of printing to be inspected for each character string. The image in a measuring range KL enclosing the character string is obtained from the initial image GL of printing, and inspection ranges S1 , S2 are set at the prescribed position of the measuring range K1 . The number of dots existing in the inspection ranges S1 , S2 is compared with the prescribed reference value for judgement of good or bad printing. It is desirable to set the inspection ranges S1 , S2 to a range including the outmost dot string of dots which constitute printing. It is possible to add the processing for comparing the longitudinal width L1 and transverse width L2 of the measuring range K1 with a prescribed reference value. |
