PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a reversible recording medium capable of forming, recording and erasing information such as an image with an electric field and heat and capable of repetitive use by using a polymer dispersion type liq. crystal consisting of a nematic liq. crystal and a polymer. SOLUTION: One side of a 1st electrically conductive substrate is coated with a coating soln. for a light controlling layer contg. at least a nematic liq. crystal material and a polymerizable monomer to form a coating soln. layer for a light controlling layer and a 2nd electrically conductive substrate is put on the coating soln. layer. The monomer is then polymerized by heating the coating soln. layer to form a light controlling layer made of a polymer dispersion type liq. crystal. The heating temp. (T) and the transition point (NI) of a nematic isotropic phase satisfy the relation of T>=NI-10 (the units of T and NI are deg.C). The objective reversible recording medium is produced. |
