PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the assembly member of an assembly type cam shaft from moving in the axial direction of an assembly member by forming the axial directional width of a bulging part formed on the shaft longer than the width of the assembly member and leaving a part where the bulging part is not deformed to the progressing directional side of the assembly member at the time of assembly. SOLUTION: Mutually parallel plural bulging parts 2 are formed in the fitting region on the external periphery of hollow steel shafts 1 by means of form rolling like a knurling work or cutting work. The length L of each bulging part 2 is formed longer than the length L1 of an assembly member 3 to be expressed as L>L1. In addition, the assembly member 3 is assembled from one side in the axial direction to a shaft 1 fitting region, but then a residual part 4 where the bulging part 2 is not deformed is left in the progressing direction side of the assembly member 3. The length of the residual part 4, that is, L-L1 is set to about 1mm. Consequently, even if a load in the axial direction acts on the assembly member 3, its movement in the axial direction can be prevented. |
