摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an apatite-titanium based composite material capable of obtaining a strong joining of a titanium base body and a coating layer and usable as an implant material for the human body. SOLUTION: In this composite material, the titanium base body and the coating layer provided on a surface of the titanium base body are provided. An alloy in which a metallic element easy to bit with the titanium is used as one of an alloy element and having a lower m.p. than a decomposition temp. of hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite particles are incorporated in the coating layer, and the metallic element easy to bit with the titanium is dispersed at an interface side with the coating layer in the titanium base body, and also the hydroxyapatite particles are rich in a surface layer of the coating layer. This composite material is produced by a method containing a process in which a powdery mixture of an alloy powder containing the metallic element easy to bit with the titanium is used as one of the alloy element and having the lower m.p. than the decomposition temp. of the hydroxyapatite and the hydroxyapatite particles are heated to an temp. higher than the m.p. of the alloy powder and lower than the decomposition temp. of the hydroxyapatite in such a state that the powdery mixture is brought into contact with the titanium base body.
