PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease noise generated from an indoor machine and an outdoor machine when an air conditioner is operated by selecting a sleep-time mode. SOLUTION: When a user selects a sleep-time mode during the ordinary operation of an air conditioner and it is detected that the operation based on the rest mode continues for a precribed time, the rotating speed of an indoor fan motor and an outdoor fan motor is lowered. Additionally, the frequency/ rotating speed characteristic of a compressor motor is corrected from a prescribed condition during the sleep-time mode relative to the characteristic A during the ordinary mode operation, so that the characteristic B is obtained. When the frequency is controlled by the characteristic B, the rotating speed of the compressor motor is lowered. |
