The prosthesis includes a femoral shaft (6) to fit within the femoral medullary canal (7) and formed in three portions. A first portion (13) has a concave internal surface profile (15) and is integral with a straight second portion (17) which forms the tail of the shaft. The third portion of the shaft is attached to the external surface profile of the first portion, and includes a wing section (30) whose external profile (31) is homothetic. The wing profile has a homothetic coefficient of less than one in relation to a line of intersection (32) between the plane defined by the axes of the second shaft portion and the cotylar cup of the prosthesis and the exterior surface (34) of the femoral trochanter (35).
