PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacture to reduce cost by forming a clutch case of a forged case body in which a cylindrical boss fitted on the outer peripheral surface of a helical spline shaft part of a pinion shaft is integrally formed on the outer face of the end wall of a cylindrical case part with bottom, and of a stamp-worked flange plate welded to the end face of the boss. SOLUTION: A reduction gear case 3 and a pinion case 4 sequentially connected to the front end of a stator 2 of a ptarter motor 1 in an engine starter, supports a pinion drive shaft 7 respectively on their front walls through plain bearings 8, 9. Then, a clutch case 12 of an overrunning clutch 11 is slidably fitted on a helical spline shaft part 7a of the pinion drive shaft 7. The clutch case 12 is formed of a stepped, cylindrical forged case body 12A in which a cylindrical boss 31 is projectively provided on the outer face of the end wall 30a of a cylindrical case part 30, and of a circular stamp-worked flange plate 12B welded to the end face of the boss 31, and thus the manufacture of the case becomes easier. |
