The watertightness wire includes fibres capable of retaining moisture. It is characterised in that it is constituted by an intimate and substantially twist-free mixture of exclusively long, first and second, fibres (2), in which mixture the said first fibres are absorbent but non-swelling, and the second fibres form a three-dimensional network for distributing and separating the absorbent first fibres. Application: power and telecommunication cables.
