PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image processor which executes higher multilevel gradients while preventing the deterioration in image quality accompanying with error diffusion with respect to the image processor of a display device constituted to spuriously increase the number of gradations by error diffusion processing. SOLUTION: This image processor has an error diffusion processing section 4 which executes the error diffusion processing to spuriously increase the number of the display gradients of the display. The processor is provided with a multiplier 3 in the fore stage of the error diffusion processing section and is so constituted that the display data necessary for the error diffusion processing and the error data are separated at the bit boundary by executing multiplication with an input signal D1 by a prescribed multiplication coefft. G so as to obtain a smooth display characteristic over the entire area of the input signal.
