摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a function device which generates malfunctions at a rate of about only one per 100 year, by making the characteristic length of a system smaller than specific times the correlation length by the magnitute of physically mutual reaction. SOLUTION: The length of one side of a system constituted of 4 quantum dots cell is Y, the distance between the cells is Z, and the probability that malfunctions due to energy dispersion, radiation, etc., generate about one time in 100 years isα=3.171×10<-10> . In this case, the characteristic length of the system is Y/Z. From the viewpoint of energy, the system is stable when the following is satisfied; Y/Z<αTC/(TRT-TC)=3.171×-10<10> TC/(TRT-TC) where TRT is the room temperature. When the condition at the operation temperature T is obtained form the formula, the following is establised; 0.441<J/KT <0.441×(1-αZ/Y)<-1> . By considering the dimension in design, the problem that transmission of data becomes inaccurate and malfuctions are generated can be prevented.
