Illumination system for use in manufacture of colour cathode ray tubes

The illumination system has a housing 4 with an integral top plate 12 and on this is located a screen 10 that has an internal coating of phosphorous material 24 . A mask is located in front of the screen. The housing and screen are enclosed by a reflection cover 2, the internal surface of which is formed with a series of reflective angled elements. Light from a source 16 passes through a filter 20. The angle of the reflective elements are less than 90 degrees in order to minimise stray light.
