<p>A blood-pressure (BP) measuring apparatus (110) including a cuff (114), an air pump (146) which outputs a pressurized air to the cuff, a control device (156, 174) which controls an output power of the air pump to increase an air pressure in the cuff up to a target value (Pt), a pressure sensor (142) which detects the cuff pressure, first-pump-output-power setting means (156, 176) for setting a predetermined first pump output power (PO1) according to which the control device controls the output power of the air pump to increase the cuff pressure during a first time period (T2) from a first value (P2) up to a second value (P3) higher than the first value, after the first value is detected by the pressure sensor, second-pump-output-power determining means (156, 178) for determining a second pump output power (OP2) corresponding to a predetermined pressure-increase rate (VPA) of the cuff, based on the first time period and the first pump output power, according to a predetermined relationship between second pump output power, and first time period and first pump output power, and setting the determined second pump output power according to which the control device controls the output power of the air pump to increase the cuff pressure from the second value up to the target value, and a measuring device (154, 160, 156) which measures a BP value of the subject while the pressure of the cuff is decreased from the target value. <IMAGE></p> |
