The invention relates to a honeycomb material, the walls of which consist of a porous network of a fibre composite material, particularly of a reinforcing yarn embedded in a rigid matrix, as well as a process for the production of this honeycomb material. The honeycomb material is used in particular as a lightweight core for the production of sandwich elements.
