PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a synthetic gas without using excess steam as in conventional manner at the time of producing the synthetic gas of hydrogen and carbon monoxide by using methane and water as raw materials. SOLUTION: This synthetic gas of hydrogen and carbon monoxide is produced in the presence of a nickel metal-containing alkaline earth metal oxide solid solution under the reaction condition of a molar ratio (steam)/(methane) of 0.3-100, 500-200,000hr<-1> gas hour space velocity(GHSV), 500-1000 deg.C raction temp. and 1-100atm total pressure by using methane and water as the raw materials. |
