A cine camera has a two-stage release lever 11 mounted on detachable handle 10, the first stage of the lever movement starting the camera drive at a selected framing speed, and the second stage movement releasing the brake on a speed governor so that maximum framing speed commences. Release dogs 12, 13 of unequal length on lever 11 engage in succession the normal and high speed releases 7, 8 whose release strokes are equal. Alternatively, the dogs 12, 13 may be of equal length while releases 7, 8 are unequal in stroke.
