[Also in Division G3] A valve body is formed by two parts 5, 7 which are connected by bayonet means, the part 7 has an inlet tube 11 upon the discharge end of which slides a closure member 15 controlling flow through a number of outlets 22. Communication between the tube 11 and outlets takes place via a port 20 through the member 15, which port 20 coacts with a rubber-faced piston 27 slidable in body part 5. A stem 30 from the piston 27 co-operates with a lever pivoted to a float arm a; the lever and float arm may be replaced by a manually-adjustable abutment. When the float falls or the abutment is displaced away from the stem 30 the pressure in the inlet tube 11 causes retraction of the piston 27 to open port 20 whereupon the pressure builds-up in a chamber 12 until it withdraws the closure member 15 to open the outlets 22. Upon the float rising or on repositioning the abutment the piston 27 protrudes into the chamber 12 to restrict the flow therethrough so that the pressure differential across the closure member 15 is sufficient to move it into engagement with the piston 27 and close the ports 20, 22.</p> |
