Device is for controlling the deviation of the arc of a continuous current electric arc furnace comprises: (a) an arc furnace (5) in which is arranged an object to be melted; (b) a mobile electrode (6) arranged in the furnace so that it can be displaced with respect to the object to be melted; (c) an electrical feed circuit (3) connected to the electrode (6) and the furnace (5) to generate the arc; and (d) an auxiliary coil (8) arranged on the outside of and in close proximity to the furnace (5) and connected to a feed circuit producing a counter magnetic field (B2) in a direction annulling a magnetic field (B1) that is generated at a level of the point of creation of the arc by the feed circuit.
