The screen (1), designed to reduce the light level through a window, is mounted on a roller (3) across the bottom of the window opening and raised or lowered as required by a cord at one side of the window and a pulley. The latter has counterweights (6) on the ends of cords passing over pulleys (4) at the top of the window opening.The counterweights and cords are located into hollow guides at the sides of the frame, while the cord used to operate the screen is connected to the roller. In the case of a double glazed window the screen can be located between the two panes
