The work table (1) is esp. suitable for a medical or dental laboratory. At its working position (7), the top surface supports a work unit (5). The working position also has a protection unit (6) carrying a front protective sheet (8) on the arm (66) of a height-adjustable holder (61), pref. located at the rear of the table. The working position (7) also has a rear protective sheet (9), spaced back from the front sheet (8) and held on the arm (66), the lower ends of the sheets (8, 9) hanging free.
