An optical component (1) is fitted in a sleeve (2) universally jointed to pivot in a housing (6). Bending springs (9) bear on the sleeve (2) on both sides of the pivots. The angular position of the springs (7) may be altered by adjusting screws (8) extending along the sleeve (2). The adjustment is transferred to the sleeve (2) so that the angular position of the optical component (1) can be altered. It is thus possible to keep the overall width of the device very small so that several devices may be fitted closely together.
