Starting and running control device e.g. for single-phase electric pump motor with permanent magnet rotor

A device to control the start-up and running of a single phase synchronous motor with a permanent magnet rotor has a sensor (10) to measure the rotor magnetic field and means (11 to 13) for phase control which switch the AC source (14) according to the sensor signal. The magnetic field of the current generated by the voltage in at least one stator winding generate a torque on the rotor in the desired direction of rotation, whereby the size of the current is limited by the phase control to a given value. For start-up, the phase control components are disconnected and are reconnected after a delay time.
