The apparatus for preventing a television receiving set from an overheat comprises two thermistors(THR1, THR2) connected to an outputting terminal of a vertical deflection driving part(1) in parallel in turn, two thermistors(THR1, THR2) having a mutually different resistance characteristic against temperature; a switch(Q1) connected to a rear end part of the thermistor(THR1) having a relatively larger resistance value, and turned on if current over a constant level flows, to thereby ground an output of the vertical deflection driving part(1); a temperature rising alarm circuit (Z1) connected to a rear end part of the thermistor(THR2) having a relatively small resistance value provided in the same temperature and, for emitting light and alarming a temperature rising if the temperature in the outputting terminal of the vertical deflection driving part(1) rises more than a constant temperature; a level detecting circuit(2) for detecting that the driving output from the vertical deflection driving part(1) becomes a level under a constant level; and a micom(3) for controlling an on/off operation of a power circuit(4) according to a detection signal of the level detecting circuit(2).
